What made you take the decoy design class? I had started taking decoy class in 10th grade to make decoys for my dad. I had planned on giving them to him for Christmas. I didn’t know much about spearing, but as I’ve grown I’ve learned that it is a fun and exciting sport.
What’s the biggest challenge in decoy making? When I first started it was carving, and over three years it’s gotten easier, but I still have a lot to learn.
Which decoy are you proudest of? I’m most proud of my black crappie decoy. This is the most recent piece for a competition. I put a lot of work into it, and I think it shows how much I’ve learned and how much I put into my art.
