Art Basel Hong Kong may be more than a few months away – March 28-30, 2025 – to be exact, but art appreciation happens all year round. To drum up excitement for next year’s edition, the art fair organiser is kicking things off with a series of Collectors’ Breakfast meetings around the city.

The first Art Basel Hong Kong Collectors’ Breakfast was hosted at the Upper House with a very special guest, Shane Akeroyd, who’s a prominent art collector and the founder of the Akeroyd Collection, a comprehensive survey of moving image art. Over an exquisite breakfast of pastries, sandwiches and hot coffee, Angelle Siyang-Le, Director, Art Basel Hong Kong, and Akeroyd shared their advice on research-based art collecting, and the importance of supporting artists over chasing investment value. Guests in attendance include other art collectors such as Aron Harilela, Dayea Yeon and Nicola Chu.
