A brightly-coloured lion sculpture now stands in Reepham Market Place as part of the GoGoSafari Trail.
And it’s all thanks to more than a year of fundraising by the volunteer team behind the town’s music festival.
RFestival organisers pledged the first £2,000 toward the £6,000 target, with the remaining funds raised through donations from businesses, residents and community groups.
Brenda Gostling, the RFestival volunteer who led the campaign, said: “This is a testament to the amazing community spirit we have in Reepham.
“We’ve had money in not just from our shops, pubs, cafes and other businesses, but also from the WI, local Lions Clubs, Reepham Town Council and – most importantly – from the wonderful people who live here.
“I believe we are the only community to have funded a sculpture in this year’s trail – and maybe in any of Break’s GoGo trails to date.
“I’m proud to have helped make it happen.”
The GoGoSafari trail is organised by Break, a charity that became one of Reepham Festival’s partners in 2024 and will benefit from the 2025 event as well.
This year’s lion, named Prince, pays homage to the musician with a flowing purple mane and musical notes, a nod to the festival’s support and the song Purple Rain.
The sculpture also features hollyhocks on its legs, reflecting the flowers that line the town’s streets.
Prince is located outside the Bircham Centre, Reepham’s community hub.
The 2025 festival will be held on August 9 and 10, with Scottish musician Callum Beattie headlining.
