An organisation that delivers art projects across Fenland has had a change of name as well as gaining charitable status.
MarketPlace has announced its evolution to MarketPlace Arts, marking an exciting new chapter for the community-driven arts organisation that also serves West Suffolk.
Alongside this change, the organisation has secured charitable status, opening up new opportunities and continuing its creative impact across the region.

The name change reflects MarketPlace Arts’ continued commitment to bringing vibrant creative experiences to local communities while streamlining its identity.
The organisation proudly remains part of Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme, continuing its mission to make creativity accessible to everyone.
“While our name may have changed slightly, our commitment to the communities we serve is stronger than ever,” said Rob Drummer, creative director & CEO.

“Becoming a charity allows us to explore new partnerships and funding opportunities, ultimately bringing more creative experiences to people right where they live.”
This announcement comes as Ely-based Babylon Arts, the lead partner in the MarketPlace consortium for the past decade, prepares to wind down operations ahead of its permanent closure in September.
Babylon Arts is proud to have led MarketPlace in delivering some ground-breaking events across the region.

MarketPlace Arts will continue bringing diverse creative experiences to communities throughout Fenland and West Suffolk, including festivals, art trails, light shows, and a wide range of participatory activities.
At the heart of this work remains a steadfast commitment to community collaboration, with local voices and stories shaping every project.
The charity has an exciting line-up of creativity for 2025, featuring intergenerational collaborations, vibrant Spring festivals, innovative art installations and market square takeovers that will bring creativity and connection to local communities.
