A quirky night market later this weekend is set to bring a vibrant evening of art, music and community spirit to the county.
Taking over St George’s Church Hall in Gravesend, the event promises a lively showcase of local female talent, with a curated mix of art prints, paintings, ceramics, jewellery and vintage fashion.
But visitors can expect much more than just shopping.
The Gravy Girls’ Night Market will have music from DJ Nipslip, alongside a family-friendly fabric flower workshop for those keen to get creative.
Food will also be on hand, with plant-based cafe Soulfuel serving up a selection of healthy bites and drinks.
Following the success of their first event, this second one looks set to build on that momentum, offering a fresh and feel-good addition to the town’s cultural calendar.
Gravy Girls was formed with a clear mission: to champion and connect female creatives across Gravesend and the wider Medway area.
Through events like this, the group aims to provide a platform for artists who might otherwise remain unseen.
Co-founders Loulou and Elle say the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We’re so excited to spotlight all of these amazing, talented female makers and creatives this spring,” they said.
“We started these markets as a way to bring together local talent, where a lot of us would usually be hidden away at home or in different pockets of Kent or London, and with the intention of bringing something new, current and exciting to our town.”
They added that it has been “truly rewarding” to see both enthusiasm and a sense of connection grow among artists and visitors alike.
The Gravy Girl’s Night Market will take place on Friday, May 8, running from 5.30pm to 9pm.
It is free to attend and open to all ages.
