A date has been revealed for the major celebration of 800 years of Nuneaton Charter Market.
CoventryLive reported that the 800th anniversary of the market charter status for Nuneaton is this year and now details for an event to mark the historic moment have been confirmed.
On Saturday, June 13, a special day of celebrations will be held in the town centre bringing together the regular Saturday Street Market, The Teenage Market and local arts project Mark IT!

To mark the occasion, traders will pay special Charter Market rates to set up stall for the day – 800p per single pitch and 1226p for van traders.
There will also be free live performances, including Talking Birds’ The Q and The Whale and Sign Spinning UK, alongside a podcast and spoken-word audio experience from Aspire in Arts, who will be gathering traders’ stories, amongst other offers.
Market-goers will also be able to try out interactive ‘have a go’ art market stalls, led by local artists, and there will also be a treasure map and art trial for people to follow.
A spokesperson for Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said: “This will encourage people to explore local business in the town and around the market, as well as a photographic exhibition of our market traders on the day.’’
The celebration will be officially launched by the borough’s official town crier Paul Gough.
In the nearby Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery there is an exhibition about the market, running until Saturday, July 11 as well as a slide show from Nuneaton Local History Group celebrating the 800th anniversary of the market.
