The holidays are approaching fast. With that in mind, there is already a buzz circulating, that a new holiday craft market is set to take place the weekend following Thanksgiving day. The formation of this inaugural market is in direct response to the void left by the Burchfield Penney Art Center’s long-running Art is a Gift show, which isn’t being held this year (or maybe ever).

The idea for Christmas in the Village was dreamed up by a number of vendors that have participated in the now defunct Art is a Gift show. It’s these types of initiatives that are conducted for all of the right reasons. Not only will this market provide a holiday venue for artists and artisans to showcase their works, it will also add to the vibrancy of the Elmwood Village at a magical time of year.

The market is scheduled to take place at Lafayette Presbyterian Church (875 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222) on the following dates:

Friday, November 28, 5 to 9 PM (Black Friday)
Saturday, November 29, 10 AM to 6 PM (Small Business Saturday)
Sunday, November 30, 12 to 4 PM (Bills game day)

Organized by Mary Joy and Bill Murphy of Just Playful Events, Christmas in the Village will feature over 30 craft and food artisans, pianist George Caldwell and Friends (Friday), and Santa Claus (Saturday and Sunday).

“The Elmwood Village is Buffalo’s premier shopping and dining destination,” said market Founder Mary Joy Murphy. “We’re super-excited to bring a first-rate artisan market to this vibrant neighborhood.”

Admission is free to the public and suitable for all ages.
