The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County’s kicks off its holiday season when CREATE PC Holiday Makers Market throws its winter-wonderland, opening-night party on Friday.
The event, which takes place at 1500 Kearns Blvd., Suite F110, is free and open to the public, although RSVPs are appreciated, said Executive Director Jocelyn Scudder.
“This helps us measure if we need to up our catering order and things like that,” she said. “But if it’s a last-minute decision to come, we welcome everyone.”

In addition to free, catered hors d’oeuvres, the opening party, which runs from 6-9 p.m., will feature a DJ and a cocktail bar helmed by Ketel One, according to Scudder.
“All ages are welcome, even though we do have a bar,” she said. “We check IDs at the front.”
CREATE PC features upward of 80 locally based artists and creative entrepreneurs this year, Scudder said. (A list of artists and products are listed at pcscarts.org/holidaymakersmarket.)

“Because there are 80 makers, anyone who lives locally and comes to this event will recognize one or more names of people who make something creative in Summit County,” she said. “It’s the perfect place to shop with friends and family to find truly unique items that include artwork, jewelry, apparel, skin-care products, chocolate and cookies. And we also have ceramics, pottery, books and cards.”
The Holiday Makers Market not only supports these creatives, but also the Arts Council, which is a nonprofit that serves the local “arts and culture community by driving creative programming, providing valuable resources, and cultivating connections,” according to its mission.
“Eighty-five percent of the sales goes to the creatives, and 15% goes to the arts council, which helps pay our gallery staff, rent and funds the whole CREATE PC program, which provides local artists with studio exhibition space and sales opportunities,” Scudder said. “It also helps keep money in the local economy, especially when things feel a little tight this year.”
While Friday serves as this year’s grand opening, the market will be open from noon to 6 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays until Jan. 31, Scudder said.

“But opening night is the time to come and get first dibs of all the products,” she said. “We’ll have freshly stocked shelves, so we encourage the community to join the party.”
In addition, most of the artists and entrepreneurs will attend the opening-night celebration, Scudder said.
“We accepted applications in October, and we had such a high number,” she said. “Unfortunately we weren’t able to accept everyone, but we did prioritize Summit County residents. So, 90% are local, and we have some favorites who are technically regional artists.”
The market also features nearly 25 artists who are new to CREATE PC this year, Scudder said.
“So, there will be some different content and products,” she said.
