A future-forward perspective of togetherness and sustainability will be the theme of the latest exhibition coming to the Art Gallery of Swift Current.
Sheri Osden Nault, a two-spirit Metis artist, will have her exhibition, titled Tastatâwâyih, on display later this week.
Luke Maddaford, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, said that the exhibition will be open from May 22 to August 8.
“It’s a collection of the work that they made over the past few years,” he said. “It really engages with relationality, really thinking about how we relate to our communities and our environment, and how that influences our identity and how we navigate through the world with a real look at futurity.
“How do the relationships that we build and the ways that we relate to the world today build a strong foundation for future generations?”

Nault, a teacher at the University of Western Ontario, is based between Calgary, Alberta, and London, Ontario.
“There’s some sculpture work, some video work, some photos, and there’s some drawings, so it’s a real wide range of mediums that Sheri’s engaging,” said Maddaord.
A public reception will be held on May 22 at 7 p.m. with free admission.
“We encourage the public to come out and see the show,” he added. “Since that artist will be in attendance, it’s a really great time to ask them about their practice and get a little bit more information about the work.”
