Saul Whyman, 29, completed his first piece of body art at BcS Tattoos on March 14 after signing a 10-year lease at 28 North Street.
The experienced artist, who lives in Tidworth, has worked at several other studios in the past but is looking forward to the freedom that comes with running his own venture.
The building used to be another studio, called Magnum Tattoos, so it did not take long for Saul to get the business up and running.
He has since been joined by junior artist Sophie Burt, who is renting a chair, and there is room for him to expand.
Examples of Saul’s work (Image: Saul Whyman) Saul said: “The whole building was already set up. I just needed to move my stuff in. It’s good – it’s been busy.
“We’ve got two other chairs that I could rent out immediately. I want to expand. I’ve been in a lot of different studios and seen a lot of different management styles.
“I got into tattooing because of the freedom of it. That’s what I want to offer to other artists. As long as they’re respectful, tidy and clean – and pay the rent! – then I’ve got no problems.
“If there’s any artists that want to join us, then we can have a chat.”
Sean enjoys working on larger pieces, such as sleeves and back tattoos, and describes himself as an “all-rounder” when it comes to style.
BcS also offers reworks and cover-ups. Customers can book by visiting his Instagram page (@bettercallsaul_tattoos) or by contacting him on Facebook or WhatsApp.
Saul’s lease was arranged by estate agent Myddelton and Major, which acted on behalf of the landlord.
Max Francis, an apprentice surveyor at Myddelton & Major, said: “We are pleased to announce yet another successful letting in Wilton. We are glad to have achieved a satisfactory result for both landlord and tenant.”
