THE popular summer sculpture exhibition Altered States is back in the grounds of Shaw House and opens to the public on Saturday.

Last year 12,000 visitors enjoyed the works in the sunshine (and the odd rainy day).
The Orangery Lawn has been transformed into an open-air sculpture park where you can discover artworks by acclaimed sculptors in the grounds of this lovely historic setting.
This exhibition, curated by Newbury sculptor Jim Crockatt, gives visitors the chance to see and even buy a creative mix of traditional, modern and cutting-edge contemporary work and will be open from 11am – 4pm, seven days a week until September 28.
Entrance is free.
Allthe works on display will be available for purchase.
The Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion house, shop and café will be open at weekends and during the school holidays.
Dogs on leads are welcomed in the grounds.

There are 85 works by 30 sculptors to discver this year. As a taster, here we show two that were in place earlier this week:

Kay Singla’s work is joyful, happy, calming and peaceful. “I have been sculpting for over 25 years. My sculptures are mainly in clay and bronze resin.
“My work is a reflection and an expression of happiness, family, love, and togetherness. All my work is very tactile and contemporary: my work is meant to be enjoyed by viewing and by feeling its texture.
“I belong to several art societies and I have also taught sculpture to students of all levels at adult education classes, including at a summer school at Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire and in a number of private studios.
“Over the years I have exhibited my work at various events and exhibitions across the country. I am regularly asked to donate my sculptures to charity auctions.”

International sculptor Eve Shepherd is best known for her contemporary figurative and portrait sculpture.
Her work has been described as bold and beautiful, challenging and powerful.
She has worked on many international public commissions and her work is enthusiastically collected and held in public and private collections worldwide.
Throughout her lengthy 34-year career, she has committed herself to pushing the boundaries of figurative sculpture both technically and conceptually.
As with all great artists she has cultivated a unique style and is now considered a master sculptor.
