Snoop Dogg has entered the world of fine art with very on-brand pieces. The rapper’s leftover blunt ashes, pieces, and roaches have been transformed into one-of-a-kind art by artist Erica Kovitz for an ultra-limited debut collection. All pieces but one have been auctioned and sold for thousands.
The Ashes to Art collection is described as not just art, but history preserved in resin and labeled as raw, refined, and iconic. Created as a fusion of pop culture, cannabis legacy, and contemporary fine art, each panel is custom-framed, professionally mounted, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
As noted on the landing page, the artwork is “a true holy grail for fine art collectors, Hip-Hop historians, and cannabis connoisseurs alike,” however, “once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
As of Monday morning (Aug. 18), five of the seven selections have been marked as sold, with the lowest, the Pocket High Emerald, at $10,000. The piece features a single smoked roach, preserved in glossy epoxy, that stands grounded at the center of a rich emerald green panel. The highest amount brought in thus far is $20,000 for Doggystyle Decoded, which features the original Doggystyle CD.
Tiphany Smokes, Golden Hour Cypher, Orange Chill, and White Whisper have all also been brought for between $12,500 and $15,000.
Remaining up for sale is Snoop Doggy Dogg Genesis Burn, with the current bid at $112,000.00. It is the only piece personally signed by Snoop with his original “Snoop Doggy Dogg” autograph and features Snoop Dogg’s official 1993 LAPD mugshot—scorched at the edges, flecked with marijuana ash, and sealed beneath a smoked roach burned by Snoop himself. The work Orange Chill also remains for sale, with the current bid at 15,000.00.
Ashes to Art was created by the veteran rapper and Kovitz through The Joint Venture, a boundary-pushing art collective redefining the intersection of celebrity, culture, and contemporary fine art, which Kovitz cofounded. The auction runs through Monday at 5:00 p.m. PT.
