The Victorian arch was exposed by the demolition of 56 Foregate Street last year – a key part of opening up the walkway between the city centre and the riverside.

Called Arch 64 in plans submitted to Worcester City Council, the suggestion is to turn the space into a base for local artists.

“Arch 64 was partially hidden by No56 Foregate Street, which was only accessible by a small corridor between the building and the railway viaduct,” the plans state.

“It has now been exposed to reveal a brick facade with ‘railway’ architectural windows.”

As well as an open space for artists, the space will contain an accessible toilet, a tea station and an artists’ sink.
