Cross Lane Projects is set to showcase “Colour, Light, Sound, Silence,” featuring the works of Marcus Vergette and Simon Marsh.

The exhibition marks the first time the duo, who met in 1980 at the Central School of Art and Design in London, will showcase their creations together.

Vergette, known for his inventive bell sculptures, explores the history and cultural associations of bells.

His works in the exhibition range from tuned bells, which visitors are encouraged to ring, to silent pieces.

Meanwhile, Marsh, a printmaker, paints and assembles works that is designed to be a “response to the area in Cornwall where he lives.”

His creations, based on drawings made in situ and subsequently refined in the studio, are characterised by their layered surfaces “suggesting weathering and crystallisation.”

The use of glass and mirrors in his works is designed to reflect light and cast colours and shadows.

Since leaving Central School of Art and Design in 1983, Marsh established Hope (Sufferance) Press, a fine art printing studio in 1986.

He took a sabbatical from 1991 to 1992 to walk around the coast of England and Wales.

It took him 18 months, and Marsh made paintings each day, carrying everything he needed and camping at night.

The exhibition, which is free to the public, will be open every Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm to 5pm from October 4 to November 16.
