The Harrison Festival of the Arts is more than just performances.

The curated art exhibit and art market run during the 46th annual Festival from July 11 to 20, along with the music and performance acts on the shores of Harrison Lake.

Visitors to the Ranger Station Art Gallery – 98 Rockwell Dr. – can take in the sights of “Small Colourful Life,” the works of Chilliwack artis Aaron Moran and Abbotsford artist Ember Miniin. The exhibition features the two artists “using play to reignite their creativity and find joy in art making.” The exhibit features acrylic works on large canvases and reclaimed wood. This “life-affirming” exhibition will run through the end of the month at the local gallery.

The Artisan Market is situated next to the beach stage, stretching along the waterfront and running during festival weekends. There are more than 45 vendors scheduled this year, many of whom are local to Agassiz-Harrison and the nearby area, selling a range of artistic wares from ceramics to textiles to paintings and other artisanal goods.

The Artisan Market hours are the following:

Saturdays, July 12 and 19: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sundays July 13 and 20, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday, July 18, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Harrison Festival of the Arts has a little something for everyone. A complete schedule is available in July 11 edition of The Agassiz-Harrison Observer. More information and ticket purchasing is available online at harrisonfestival.com. There are no tickets necessary for ungated outdoor shows, but audience members are encouraged to purchase a button to support the Festival of the Arts.

The Harrison Festival Society has been hosting the Harrison Festival of the Arts for decades every July. The non-profit organization also presents the Season of Performing Arts September through May, working closely with partners across the Fraser Valley to bring high-quality and accessible performing arts to Agassiz-Harrison and beyond.
