Malvern Arts & Food Market said the winds of up to 53mph meant the event would be “too dangerous” for its traders and customers.

It had been due to take place in the grounds of Great Malvern Priory, just off Church Street, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 4.

A yellow wind warning has now been issued from 12am to 7pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the event said: “It is with great disappointment that we have made the necessary decision to cancel the Arts Market on Saturday.

“With a named storm coming through it is too dangerous for traders and customers for the market to go ahead.

“Please spread the word so that visitors won’t turn up and be disappointed.

“We look forward to seeing you on November 1 for our next Arts Market there.”

They added: “Gutted that we’ve had to cancel Saturday’s Arts Market, along the Priory driveway but the safety of our traders and customers must come first.

“Please come and support us on November 1. It’ll definitely be time to start your Christmas shopping.”
