The Art Gallery exhibition gives you the rare chance to view and buy art from some of East Anglia’s best-established and emerging artists, who are often capturing in canvas what life is like in our pocket of the world.

It’s also a great opportunity to talk directly to the people who made the work. Don’t miss the miracle of artistic creation unfolding before your very eyes – as some of the county’s most talented artists will be sketching and painting live outside the marquee and en plein air around the showground.

The ‘Find the Art’ activity sheet offers younger visitors a fun way to engage with the exhibition – and maybe spark an interest in art that lasts beyond the show.

Arnolds Keys estate agents has sponsored the Art Gallery at the Royal Norfolk Show for many years.

“It is always a pleasure to support the county’s many talented artists,” said Guy Gowing, senior partner at Arnolds Keys. “The Art Gallery offers the chance to showcase a real cross-section of work from the many talented artists who call Norfolk home.

“Choosing a winner of the Sponsor’s Choice is always a serious business given the high quality of all the art which is displayed at the exhibition. We are always looking for that extra something which stands out, the wow factor which draws the eye and makes a picture or sculpture irresistible.”

“I love to show personality in my drawings – and ‘Snack Time’ has plenty of that,” Frances said. “I use graphite pencils ranging from 9H to 9B to create my drawings, building layers of graphite to give a 3D effect.

“It was really validating to receive an award,” Frances added. “The art show is a wonderful collection of self-expression.”

Last year, the Youth Artist of the Year competition was launched to mark the 50th anniversary of the Art Gallery at the Royal Norfolk Show.

The prize promotes promising young East Anglian creatives by giving them an exciting opportunity to showcase their talent.

The judges were compelled by her unique style, bold line work and use of negative space in ‘Ever-Growing’.

Daisy explained it is a “very personal painting” that represents her love of Norfolk forests and captures segments of memories from local woodlands. She said the award had made a big difference.

“After winning, it gave me such a confidence boost and hope in myself that I could pursue painting as a career,” she said. “It’s important to celebrate and give a platform to local artists, as they are the people who document and create our current surroundings in unique approaches.”
