It is a busy period for the local art world and Limassol in particular is thriving. A lot is happening in the coastal town, boosted by the time for Vima Art Fair arriving. In correlation with the event, Eins Gallery is pleased to present two art exhibitions; one at its grounds and one as part of the first edition of the international art fair.

As Vima is on from Saturday, Eins gallery presents Leontios Toumpouris’ solo exhibition Porous Defence Practices at the fair’s venue; The Warehouse by IT Quarter. Expanding on his ongoing inquiry into the intersections between matter, corporeality and land, Toumpouris will introduce a new series of sculptural wall pieces. These works refer to embodied knowledge, autobiography and the landscape, unfolding through multiple layers of representational possibility, manifested in objects, images and gestures.

In parallel, Toumpouris participates in the group exhibition The Posterity of the Sun curated by Ludovic Delalande for Vima Art Fair. For this exhibition, Toumpouris presents On Dormancy, a site-responsive ceramics installation and Skipping Time, a narrated essay written by Toumpouris and performed daily at fixed times by Edward Madanat.

The essay will be performed on Friday and Saturday between 4pm and 7pm, on the hour, and on Sunday every hour between 1pm and 6pm.

Meanwhile, back at Eins Gallery, the space will host the solo exhibition by Socratis Socratous on the same weekend. This will be the first time the artist exhibits at the gallery, unveiling his works at the evening event on Friday between 8pm and 11pm.

Its title is long and unusual: ‘No fighting is possible, and no war can be carried to a successful conclusion today, without using and destroying vast quantities of aluminum’. Until July 5, visitors have the chance to discover everything about it.
