Mr. Brainwash’s latest collection with Disney’s global debut begins Dec. 1
Mr. Brainwash is taking over his namesake art museum in Beverly Hills with a new collection through Clarendon Fine Art this December, in collaboration with Disney.
Thierry Guetta, aka Mr. Brainwash, has reimagined Disney’s Mickey & Friends characters in his own signature vibrancy and street art style. Not only taking these classic characters and bringing them to life, but also incorporating his own “Life is Beautiful” motto to new iconography.
The Dreams Come True collection features sculptures, original canvases and 14 limited edition silkscreen prints by the artist, fusing pop-art with iconic Disney imagery.
The global unveiling begins Dec. 1 in London at the Mayfair gallery and the Mr. Brainwash Museum in Beverly Hills, with other galleries debuting the collection in tandem globally. Clarendon will be hosting a London-wide social media scavenger hunt, the “Dreams Come True Trail,” for a chance to win prizes.
Guetta calls the collection, “a love letter to L.A. A city where fantasy meets freedom. Los Angeles has always been about reinvention. About taking dreams seriously. This project is proof that high art, pop culture, street energy, and legacy can all live together in one space.”
When it came to balancing his own style with Disney’s classic, and often structured storytelling style, Guetta says, “It was like dancing with a legend. You follow the rhythm, but you still bring your own steps. Disney’s style is iconic, timeless, full of structure and storytelling. My style is wild, loud, and spontaneous. So the challenge was to let those worlds meet without losing the soul of either.”
Credit: Disney ExperiencesThis also doesn’t seem to be a one-off collaboration with the artist and entertainment giant. After being asked if he would like to continue a relationship with Disney, Guetta said, “This collaboration isn’t just about nostalgia, it’s about what comes next.”
