When the august Winter Show opens in New York on Jan. 23, it will be filled with booths showcasing the typical tumble of antique furniture, historical and contemporary art, rare jewelry and decorative objects — and a curious little room that’s not quite like the rest.

This booth — a den, really — is decked out like an actual cozy nook in a collector’s house. A young collector, specifically, one with eclectic but cohesive taste. On the wall, a round, Regency-era “sorcerer’s mirror” overlooks the room and gives it a bit of a gilded fun-house flair. A spare, Shaker-inspired desk in Carpathian elm by the living artist Mira Nakashima is positioned beneath a sumptuous 17th century portrait by the painter Mary Beale.
