The Dorset Open, an exhibition at the Dorset Museum & Art Gallery, showcases works that capture the region’s landscape, people, history and culture.

The artworks were selected by a panel of five judges from across the arts and cultural sectors.

The exhibition aims to celebrate and support artists, reinforcing Dorset Visual Arts and Dorset Museum & Art Gallery’s mission to champion creativity, inclusion and community engagement.

Paul Newman, creative director of Dorset Visual Arts, said: “We were delighted by the overwhelming interest and the exceptional quality and diversity of submissions for The Dorset Open.

“The judges dedicated considerable time to their deliberations, ultimately selecting works that showcase the wide range of artistic expression and media employed by artists in their creative interpretations of our beautiful region.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the selected works and installing the exhibition, and opening it to visitors who we are sure will be equally inspired.”

Prizes will be awarded for outstanding artistic achievement, including a £500 First general category and a £200 Climate Emergency Award.

The exhibition forms part of a broader cultural initiative to celebrate visual arts in the region.
