Sussex artist uses dancing dolls to measure town’s ankle-twisting pothole issue

A Sussex artist’s quirky post has thrown the spotlight on a town’s pothole problem.

Juliette Dodd staged a tongue-in-cheek picture of Morris dancers on Willingdon Avenue in St Leonards to highlight the risks potholes pose during processions.

Ms Dodd, who goes by SinkySnap online, has previously created tableau scenes around potholes in Hastings to draw attention to the problem.

She said: “I created this image as a warning about the potholes on the procession route as they are a danger to the unwary Morris dancers and participants.

She said: “I’ve been told by RX Morris team that twisted ankles are sadly quite a common thing for them.”

Ms Dodd used 30cm Action Man and Ken dolls to show the scale of the potholes.

She reported that 30cm is also the minimum size a pothole needs to be to be mended.

She said: “It’s easy to work out the scale of the pothole next to a doll”
